Severn Trent Green Power Ltd Stoke Bardolph AD plant processes a variety of agricultural crops, which generates 5.6MW of energy and produces an excellent bio-fertiliser which is spread on local farmland.
The plant processes a variety of agricultural crops from adjacent farmland which has been used for the safe recycling of sewage sludge for over 120 years. The land potentially contains elevated levels of heavy metals and this places certain restrictions on what the land can be used, but it is extremely fertile and is suitable for the cultivation of maize for energy recovery.
Project task
D&G Utilities Ltd were appointed by Severn Trent Green Power Ltd to install the IP orange gas main which would ultimately transport the natural gas generated from it’s crop anaerobic digestion facility in Nottingham.
2.4kms of 250mm gas pipe was required to transport the gas from the treatment site to the grid connection point.
D&G Utilities were responsible for the civils works, traffic management and HDD crossing throughout the route, where they would require a robust PE pipe system to ensure the installation method could be achieved.
Solution
SIMONA Peak Pipe Systems reacted quickly to the enquiry and ensure production of the pipe commenced within 7 days of order receipt.
Due to it’s on site testing facilities, the pipe could go for initial batch release testing to ensure the product was tested and fit for purpose.
Full articulated vehicles were delivered to the site location 33 miles from the production facility in Chesterfield. All deliveries were made in line with the clients request to ensure the site didn’t get over crowded due to the lack of available storage space.
The quick turnaround of pipe to site allowed for the connection to the AD plant to be delivered ahead of schedule providing green energy to thousands of homes throughout Nottingham.
